How net pay is worked out
First, the employee's social security contribution comes off: 9% of gross, paid to the CNAS. What remains is taxable income.
IRG, Algeria's income tax, is then applied to that amount band by band, less a 40% allowance worth between 1,000 and 1,500 DZD a month.
Taxable pay up to 30,000 DZD is tax-free. Between 30,001 and 35,000 DZD (42,500 DZD for disabled workers and retirees), a second allowance smooths the step so a small raise never costs more than it brings in.

Common questions
What is the minimum wage in Algeria in 2026?
The SNMG is 24,000 DZD gross a month for a 40-hour week, in force since 1 January 2026 (presidential decree 26-01). No income tax is due at that level, so net pay is 21,840 DZD.
Are bonuses taxed like salary?
Monthly bonuses are part of gross pay and follow the same calculation. Bonuses paid on another schedule (annual bonus, back pay) carry a flat 10% withholding. Travel and regional allowances and family benefits are exempt.
Gross or net: what should you compare in a job ad?
Algerian job ads quote gross pay in some cases and net in others, and the gap soon passes 15%. Put two offers on the same basis before comparing them: this calculator converts both ways.
Is this an official calculation?
No. It is an estimate based on the table published by Algeria's tax authority (DGI). Your payslip can differ with benefits in kind, company-specific deductions or a collective agreement.
